MELBOURNE, Australia – The Polarcus Naila has started the Beehive 3D seismic survey in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf, 225 km (140 mi) southwest of Darwin.

According to operator Santos’ partner Melbana Energy, the vessel will acquire around 600 sq km (231 sq mi) of seismic data over the potentially giant Carbonate Beehive prospect.

Results should help de-risk the prospect and identification of a location for the Beehive-1 exploration well.

Water depths in the acquisition area range from around 30-50 m (98-164 ft).
