LONDONCairn Energy has farmed-into Azinor Catalyst’s upcoming Agar Plantain well in the UK North Sea, due to be drilled by the semisubmersible Transocean Leader.

Pending approvals, Cairn will take on 50% of the sole risk drilling activity and a 25% interest in the wider P1763 license, with Catalyst’s existing partner Apache Corp.

Catalyst will retain operatorship for the proposed appraisal well with Cairn having the option to assume operatorship for a future development.

Blocks 9/9d and 9/14a contain Agar, discovered by Catalyst in 2014 Eocene Frigg formation sands, and the Plantain prospect. The company estimates combined mid-case resources at 60 MMboe, with an upside case of 98 MMboe.
