    Shell takes WilPhoenix on long-term P&A contract

    Shell UK has contracted Awilco Drilling’s semisubmersible WilPhoenix for decommissioning of 18 wells.

    ABERDEEN, UK – Shell UK has contracted Awilco Drilling’s semisubmersible WilPhoenix for decommissioning of 18 wells, with options for a further eight wells.

    The firm 18-well program, valued at $38.3 million, is due to start on Sept. 1 and continue for 330 days.

    TheWilPhoenix is an Enhanced Pacesetter design equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,200 ft (366 m).
