Wellesley gets go-ahead for North Sea drilling

Wellesley Petroleum has authorization from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well in the North Sea.

OSLO, NorwayWellesley Petroleum has authorization from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to drill an exploration well in the North Sea.

The semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic will drill 35/12-6S, the first on production license 925, awarded last month and comprising parts of blocks 35/9 and 35/12.

The location is roughly 14 km (8.7 mi) southwest of the Gjøa field and 12 km (7.5 mi) east of theByrding field.
