TEHRAN, Iran – Norwegian company ORG Co. has submitted the result of its studies on the deepwater Sardar Jangal field and exploration blocks 24, 26, and 29 in the Iranian sector of the Caspian Sea to National Iranian Oil Co. (NIOC).
According to news service Shana, the two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) last November on conducting studies on the field. ORG presented its results in less than the projected six-month deadline.
NIOC will use this first-phase program, which has helped identify the dimensions and characteristics of the reservoir, to determine its strategy going forward.
In other Shana reports, the first platform for phases 22 to 24 of the South Pars gas field should be installed at the location in the Persian Gulf by late May.
An official said that three other platforms are under construction at the Iran Marine Industrial Company (SADRA) yard. The project is targeting 14 MMcm/d of rich gas.
South Pars Phase 14’s offshore section should be completed by the end of next March, with the first platform due to be launched by late May.
An official told Shana that construction of associated subsea pipelines and drilling of wells had respectively achieved 90% and 80% completion. So far seven wells have been drilled and pre-commissioning is under way of the Platform 14A sea lines.
Phase 14 could enter production by late September, he added. It will eventually deliver 1 bcf/d of sour gas from two platforms.
