NPD raises assessment of Norway’s offshore hydrocarbons

OSLO, Norway – Proven and unproven petroleum resources offshore Norway total around 15.6 bcmoe, according to the latest estimate by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

This is 1.3 bcmoe higher than the figure issued a year earlier, the reason being that in 2016/2017, the NPD mapped acreage that has yet to be opened to petroleum activities in the northeastern part of the Norwegian Barents Sea.

Lundin Norway has the NPD’s authorization to drill anotherappraisal well on its Alta oil discovery in the southern Barents Sea in license PL 609.

The semisubmersibleLeiv Eirkssonwill drill well 7220/11-5 S 4.5 km (2.8 mi) southwest of the discovery well, 7220/11-1.
