ADELAIDE, AustraliaCooper Energy has issued updates on its development programs offshore southeast Australia.

In the Otway basin, the company operates the producing Casino-Henry-Netherby fields and has interests in other offshore permits.

The joint venture for this project has committed to a workover of the Casino-5 well, which is currently shut-in.Diamond Offshore’s semisubmersibleOcean Monarch should begin the program next month.

Processing is under way of 3D seismic over the VIC/P44 permit for production of a quantitative interpretation seismic inversion volume, which should be completed later this year.

Initial results suggest there are various potentially economic gas prospects close to pipeline infrastructure.

Cooper estimates total capex of its ongoingSole gas project offshore Victoria at $605 million, comprising $355 million for development of the offshore Sole field and a $250-million upgrade of onshore Orbost gas processing facility.

Sole will be developed via two production wells (to be drilled later this year) with subsea wellheads, connected through a 65-km (40-mi) pipeline and a control umbilical to Orbost.

The horizontally directional drilled shore crossing has finished for the umbilical.
