BW, Ocean Installer to decommission Chinguetti floater offshore Mauritania

Ocean Installer will assist BW Offshore with decommissioning the FPSO Berge Helene at the Chinguetti field, 80 km (50 mi) offshore Mauritania.

STAVANGER, Norway – Ocean Installer will assist BW Offshore with decommissioning the FPSOBerge Helene at the Chinguetti field, 80 km (50 mi) offshore Mauritania.

This follows operator Petronas’ implementation of a demobilization plan.

Offshore operations could start in March or April, with duties including disconnection, laydown and wet storage of the flexible risers, umbilical and mooring lines from the FPSO.

BW Offshore operates the vessel for Petronas in a water depth of around 800 m (2,625 ft). It has operated on the Chinguetti field since 2006.

In the Norwegian sector,Statoil has awarded Ocean Installer two subsea contracts, running from 2018-20, on the Snorre, Troll, Njord, Åsgard, Bauge, Fenja and Dvalin fields.

The first contract, due to start this spring, is for subsea lines modification work, with the program involving complex riser change-out operations, Ocean Installer said.
