LONDON – Production continues to fall from the Chinguetti oil fieldoffshore Mauritania, according to partner Sterling Energy.

On Sept. 2, all the field’s wells except for Banda Gas -2, were shut-in due to pressure drop and an abnormally large loss of gas lift, the LP1 and 2 lines having been shut-in two days earlier.

However, following successful interventions performed from the ROV vesselOcean Intervention, the wells were opened to resume normal production on Oct.17.

Operator Petronas hopes production will now stabilize above 2,500 b/d. Output from Chinguetti is stored on theBerge Helene FPSO.

The partners maintain dialogue with the government of Mauritania on the field decommissioning and abandonment program, which they hope to start later this month.
