Maersk to drill next phase North Sea Buzzard wells

Nexen Petroleum UK has contracted Maersk Drilling to drill three wells for the Buzzard Phase II development project in the UK central North Sea, starting next July.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Nexen Petroleum UK has contracted Maersk Drilling to drill three wells for the Buzzard Phase II development project in the UK central North Sea, starting next July.

Buzzard is Britain’s largest producing offshore oil field.

Estimated duration of the initial firm contract period is 225 days, with options for up to nine more wells.

Maersk Drilling will deploy one of its I-class (CJ70 design) jackups currently operating offshore Norway.
