Repsol Sinopec starts engineering for North Sea Liberator-Blake tieback

Detailed engineering studies are under way for i3 Energy’s first UK North Sea development.

ABERDEEN, UK – Detailed engineering studies are under way for i3 Energy’s first UK North Sea development.

Repsol Sinopec Resources UK, which operates the producing Blake field and associated FPSO Bleo Holm, is working on a tieback of the Liberator field on i3’s behalf.

The studies will determine the technical requirements and installation schedule for the tie-in, and i3 will use these and information from a site survey over the area for its proposed field development plan (FDP), presently under consultation with the UK’sOil & Gas Authority.

Also under preparation is an environmental statement for the proposed project. At the same time, i3 is in discussions with the supply chain and various sources of potential financing to fully fund the Liberator development.

Martyn Eames, the company’s commercial manager, said: “We remain on track for drilling operations and subsea tie-in activities in 2018.”
