Strong Iranian involvement in South Pars Phase 11

A consortium of Iranian contractors will build and install two offshore platforms for the initial Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, operated by Total.

TEHRAN, Iran – A consortium of Iranian contractors will build and install two offshore platforms for the initial Phase 11 of the South Pars gas field in the Persian Gulf, operated by Total.

According to a report by news service Shana, the Iranian Petroleum Industries Equipment Manufacturers Association will lead the program with five specialist manufactures involved.

An official said that the contractors building the platforms will need around $100 million of financial assistance.

Shana also reported that Iran’s gas production fromSouth Pars has more than doubled during President Hassan Rouhani’s first term in office to around 600 MMcm/d at present.

Iran claims it is now recovering as much gas from the shared field as Qatar is from theNorth Field, as it is known in Qatari waters.
