THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The 2013 Deep Offshore Technology Conference & Exhibition opened today with an emphasis on both safety and solutions.

“The word ‘exciting’ does not quite do justice when we are talking about technology, innovations, investments, and the tremendous conference of the deepwater community,” said DOT Advisory Board Chair Matt Lamey of Anadarko Petroleum Corp. in his plenary opening comments.

He noted in particular the focus on “safety” and “solutions” within the conference theme of “Exploring Every Facet for Deeper, Safer Solutions.”

Success in the types of projects that make up deepwater oil and gas exploration, drilling, and production require true innovation and the participants must be prepared to overcome and to work together for solutions, he said.

Lamey also introduced Anadarko Vice President, Worldwide Project Management Don Vardeman who presented the plenary keynote address.
