BØMLO, NorwayEidesvik Offshore and Norwegian shipowner Agalas have jointly ordered a new construction support vessel (CSV) for subsea and offshore wind operations.

The vessel, named Eidesvik Agalas, will run with methanol engines and a battery hybrid system and will be majority owned (50.1%) by Eidesvik. Plus, the joint venture has options for a further four vessels.

Alongside the battery hybrid system, dual-fuel generating sets will be capable of operating on either methanol or MGO.

The vessel will be built at the Sefine Shipyard in Turkey with delivery in early 2026. It will be able to perform IMR work and will go straight to a three- to five-year charter with Reach Subsea, with Eidesvik providing full management of the vessel, including crewing.

According to the co-venturers, demand for vessels in the subsea sector is about to outstrip supply, with continued growth in offshore wind this decade.

The new vessel will be 99.9 m long with a breadth of 21 m and capable of accommodating 100 people. It will have a 150-metric ton heave-compensated crane and a 900-sq-m deck area for conducting IMR and construction duties.
