OSLO, NorwayConocoPhillips can start using new subsea facilities at the Eldfisk nord development in the southern Norwegian North Sea, following authorization from the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.

This equipment comprises two seabed templates for production and one for water injection, connecting respectively nine production wells and five injection wells. Startup should follow shortly.

ConocoPhillips estimates recoverable resources in the range 50 MMbbl to 90 MMbbl of oil, with a development cost of close to NOK13 billion ($1.24 billion).

The Eldfisk Field is in Block 2/7, license 018, in the Greater Ekofisk Area. The new project should improve recovery from the Ekofisk and Tor formations.

Eldfisk was discovered in 1970, and the plan for development and operation (PDO) was approved in 1975. ConocoPhillips secured approval for an amended PDO for Eldfisk, including resources at Eldfisk nord, in December 2022.

The other partners in the license are Total Energies, Vår Energi, Sval Energi and Petoro.
