SOUTHAMPTON, UK  Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg (EnBW) and bp have commissioned marine consultancy ABPmer to support engineering for the Morgan Offshore Wind and Mona Offshore Wind developments in the eastern Irish Sea.

ABPmer will provide metocean design and operating criteria for the wind farms and export cable corridors, and it will assess the seabed mobility potential for both projects.

Its conclusions will assist export cable route selection and the wind turbine foundation and array/export cable design process.

The company will draw on output from its ongoing metocean studies for Morgan and Mona, recent and historic seabed surveys, and geophysical data collected for the projects.

It is deploying high-resolution hydrodynamic and sediment transport modelling to map the long-term regional scale sediment transport pathways.

Morgan and Mona detailed design will continue through 2023, with both wind farms expected to be fully operational by 2029.
