Petrobras has secured approval from the government of Côte d’Ivoire for its declaration of interest in nine offshore exploration blocks, according to a June 4 company news release.
This represents the first phase in the acquisition process. Contractual negotiations will follow, the purpose being to ensure exclusivity during this negotiating period.
Petrobras has a long-term strategy to replenish its oil and gas reserves by exploring new frontier areas, both in Brazil and internationally.
