STAVANGER, Norway – Equinor has resumed operations at Statfjord Øst in the Norwegian North Sea.

A series of new investments totalling NOK3.5 billion ($327 million) should increase production by 26 MMboe and help extend Statfjord C’s productive life through 2040.

Two new wells have been drilled from existing subsea templates, and three more are due to be drilled.

Statfjord Øst, which started producing in 1994, is connected to the Statfjord C platform 5 km to the south; the project includes a modification on Statfjord C and a new pipeline for gas lift to the subsea wells. These measures should improve the oil recovery rate from the field from 58% to 63%.

Original oil volume in place in Statfjord Øst was 410 MMbbl.

License partners in Statfjord Øst Unit include Equinor Energy, Petoro, Vår Energi, Okea, INPEX Idemitsu Norge and Wintershall Dea Norge.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Techouse will design and supply the new combined cycle power equipment for Equinor’s Statfjord C platform in the Norwegian North Sea. The equipment will replace the existing gas turbines, the aim being to reduce CO2 emissions from the facility by 25% (95,000 t) by 2026.

Furthermore, Moreld Apply will manage overall execution of the project including integrity and interfaces on the platform, required modifications to existing systems, and the offshore installation, with offshore work taking place during the summer seasons of 2025 and 2026 with the field still in production.
