MAROUSSI, Greece  Snam has contracted Corinth Pipeworks to supply about 13 km of longitudinally submerged arc-welded steel pipes for transporting gas from an FSRU at the port of Ravenna, eastern Italy.

The facility will have a capacity of 170,000 cu. m and a nominal throughput of 5 Bcm/year of natural gas.

The 26-inch pipeline will be certified to transport up to 100% hydrogen, and Corinth Pipeworks is devising solutions for hydrogen certification of new pipelines. So, the steel pipes it manufactures will also cover future energy needs.

Fabrication for the FSRU project will include application of internal and three-layer polypropylene, external coating, and concrete weight coating, all applied at the same location as pipe manufacturing at Thisvi, Greece.
