CALGARY, Canada – Sterling Resources has issued an update on development drilling at the Cladhan and Breagh fields in the UK North Sea.
A second oil production well (P2) is currently being completed at Cladhan in the far north of the sector, with the drilling rig expected to demobilize within the next two weeks. The well encountered a reservoir section that was thinner than expected.
Work to tie in the subsea infrastructure at the Cladhan field and the host Tern platform should re-start this spring. Associated topsides modifications continue on the platform.
Following the results of the latest well, RPS Energy has downgraded Cladhan’s proved plus probable reserves from 16.5 MMbbl to 10.2 MMbbl.
At Breagh in the southern gas basin, production this year has averaged 126 MMcf/d with production uptime of 95%. A major factor has been the performance of the two hydraulically-stimulated wells A07 and A08, which have contributed around 45% of the field’s daily output since coming onstream in the second half of 2014.
The company and operator RWE Dea UK expects to start a new Phase 1 infill campaign this fall, comprising two new wells and one re-entry. The program may be extended to four new wells, plus the re-entry and one side track. All will be hydraulically stimulated.
