LONDON – GeoPartners, Seabird Exploration Multi-Client, and DownUnder GeoSolutions are working on a multi-client 2D (MC2D) seismic project in the frontier Rockall basin offshore northwest Scotland.

A 2013 reconnaissance program led to markedly improved data quality compared with previous legacy data, Geopartners says, paving the way for MC2D, the second phase of which was acquired during July and August of this year.

The Rockall Regional 2013/2014 program represents the first significant data acquisition in the area for more than a decade, the company adds.

A total of 5,000 line km (3,107 mi) of geologically focused data will soon be available for interpretation. The recent acquisition employed the same long offset broadband approach piloted in the 2013 acquisition/processing campaign.
