STRAUME, Norway – An unnamed operator has contracted AGR Enhance Drilling to provide riserless mud recovery (RMR) services this summer offshore Sakhalin Island, eastern Russia.
Drilling operations in the designated area include challenging top-hole conditions and stringent environmental regulations, AGR says.
RMR allows use of weighted mud during top-hole drilling. All mud and cuttings are returned to the rig, without discharge to the sea – this is said to lead to a more stable top-hole, drilled with minimal environmental impact.
