Wintershall draws up next drilling target offshore Norway

Wintershall has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to drill its first well on license PL 511 in the Norwegian Sea.

OSLO, Norway – Wintershall has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to drill its first well on license PL 511 in the Norwegian Sea.

The permit, awarded in January 2009, covers parts of blocks 6406/5, 6406/6, and 6406/9. The well will be drilled by the semisubmersibleTransocean Arctic about 20 km (12.4 mi) south of the producing Tyrihans field, after the rig has completed an appraisal well for Wintershall in PL 418.
