India committee approves five offshore blocks for exploration

India’s Cabinet Committee on Investment has approved five offshore blocks for exploration.

NEW DELHI, India – India’s Cabinet Committee on Investment has approved five offshore blocks for exploration. Three are in Krishna Godavari basin and two are off the northeast coast.

Reliance Industries holds blocks KG-DWN-98/3, NEC-OSN 97/2 and KG-OSN-2001/1 in Krishna Godavari basin, Cairn India has KG-OSN-2009/3, and the Oil and Natural Gas Corp. holds KG-OSN-2009/4 off the northeast coast.

The release of these tracts is the result of a project by Prime Minister Manmohad Singh’s efforts to fasttrack approvals of certain projects.
