OSLO, Norway – Lundin Norway’s latest wildcat in the southern Barents Sea was unsuccessful.
The well on theBørselv structure on the Loppa High, drilled by the semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson in 450 m (1,476 ft) water depth, was an attempt to prove further reserves 20 km (12 mi) north of the company’s Neiden discovery.
Lundin’s target was Permian-Carboniferous carbonate reservoirs. The well encountered oil shows, but the reservoir was water bearing. Extensive data acquisition was carried out in the reservoir, including conventional coring.
The rig will next drill the Hufsa prospect in license PL533.
