STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson has spudded exploration well 7220/6-3 on the Børselv prospect for operator Lundin Norway.

The location is north of the company’s Alta and Neiden oil discoveries in license PL609 on the Loppa High in the southern Barents Sea, and around 18 km (11 mi) northwest of theNeiden discovery well.

Lundin’s main goal is to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of Permian-Carboniferous carbonate reservoirs. It estimates Børselv’s potential resources at 244 MMboe.

Drilling should take around 35 days to complete, with a planned TD of roughly 1,300 m (4,265 ft).
