US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count up by one

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by one over the past week, rising from 16 to 17.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by one over the past week, rising from 16 to 17, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 11, 2017. That number (17) is unchanged year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count also rose by one, from 17 to 18. The additional rig is operating offshore Alaska. That number is up by one year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by five at 949, with oil rigs up by three to 768, gas rigs down by eight to 181, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at zero.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 468, with oil rigs up by 372, gas rigs up by 98, and miscellaneous rigs down by two.
