US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count falls by seven

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count fell from 23 to 16 over the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes weekly rig count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count fell by seven over the past week, falling from 23 to 16, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Aug. 4, 2017. That number (16) is down by one year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count also fell by seven, from 24 to 17. The additional rig is operating offshore Alaska. That number is unchanged year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was down by four at 954, with oil rigs down by one to 765, gas rigs down by three to 189, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at zero.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 490, with oil rigs up by 384, gas rigs up by 108, and miscellaneous rigs down by two.
