US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count holds steady at 23

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count remained unchanged over the past week, holding steady at 23.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count remained unchanged over the past week, holding steady at 23, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of July 28, 2017. That number (23) is up by four year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count increased by one to 24 with the addition of a rig offshore Alaska. That number is up by five year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by eight to 958, with oil rigs up by two to 766, gas rigs up by six to 192, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at zero.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 495, with oil rigs up by 392, gas rigs up by 106, and miscellaneous rigs down by three.
