Aquamarine Subsea upgrading Cat D rig components

Songa Offshore has awarded Aquamarine Subsea a five-year frame agreement covering a continuous class program for the high-pressure manifolds on the four CAT D semisubmersible drilling rigs.

LYSAKER, NorwaySonga Offshore has awarded Aquamarine Subsea a five-year frame agreement covering a continuous class program for the high-pressure (HP) manifolds on the four CAT D semisubmersible drilling rigs.

There is an option to extend the contract by a further five years.

Work will typically comprise upgrading, exchanging, and re-certifying HP manifold components such as valves, blocks and spools, as part of Songa Offshore’s total program for continuous classing.

Aquamarine Subsea will execute the work at its Jørpeland site and on the rigs during operation.

The company has also won a contract to upgrade Paragon’s subsea BOP stack for theMSS1 drillship, currently operating in the North Sea. 

Aquamarine’s Houston operations will provide engineering design, fabrication, and assembly and testing to upgrade the BOP stack to accommodate five cavities. In addition, Aquamarine will design and manufacture HP choke and kill pipework, choke and kill stabs, and a BOP cart.

Delivery is scheduled for 2Q 2018.
