US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count up by two to 20

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by two over the past week to reach 20, according to the latest Baker Hughes weekly rig count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by two over the past week to reach 20, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of May 12, 2017. That number is down by one year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count was up by two to 21, with the addition of a drilling rig offshore Alaska. The overall US offshore count is also down by one year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by eight week-over-week at 885, with oil rigs up by nine to 712, gas rigs down by one to 172, and miscellaneous rigs down by one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 479, with oil rigs up by 394, gas rigs up by 85, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged.
