US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count up by one to 18

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by one over the past week to reach 18, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of May 5, 2017.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexicorig count increased by one over the past week to reach 18, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of May 5, 2017. That number is down by five year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count is up by two to 19, with the addition of a drilling rig offshore Alaska. The overall US offshore count is down by five year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by seven week-over-week at 877, with oil rigs up by six to 703, gas rigs up by two to 173, and miscellaneous rigs down by one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 462, with oil rigs up by 375, gas rigs up by 87, and miscellaneous unchanged.
