US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count falls by three to 17

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by three over the past week according to the latest Baker Hughes weekly rig count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by three over the past week, falling to 17, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of April 28, 2017. That number is down by seven year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by eight year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 13 week-over-week at 870, with oil rigs up by nine to 697, gas rigs up by four to 171, and miscellaneous unchanged at two.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 450, with oil rigs up by 365, gas rigs up by 84, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
