Latest Alta appraisal well under way offshore northern Norway

The semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson has spudded the Alta-4 appraisal well for Lundin Norway in the Loppa High area of the southern Barents Sea.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – The semisubmersible Leiv Eiriksson has spudded the Alta-4 appraisal well for Lundin Norway in the Loppa High area of the southern Barents Sea.

Well 7220/11-4 is drilling in license PL609, 2 km (1.2 mi) south of theAlta discovery well.

Lundin’s goals are to further appraise the structure and to provide a calibration point for a horizontal well and a potential extended well test in 2018.

Current resource estimates for Alta are in the range of 125-400 MMboe. Drilling should last around 65 days.
