Deepwater drilling to re-start soon offshore Newfoundland

Husky Energy will participate in two exploration wells in the frontier Flemish Pass basin offshore Newfoundland & Labrador this year.

CALGARY, CanadaHusky Energy will participate in two exploration wells in the frontier Flemish Pass basin offshore Newfoundland & Labrador this year, with the first due to spud around mid-2017.

The company plans to take a final investment decision on the West White Rose offshore project in the same province later this year.

During 1Q, a new infill well at North Amethyst began production and a new well is due to be drilled at White Rose. Both will be tied back to the FPSOSeaRose.

At Husky’s liquids-richBD project offshore Indonesia, final preparations are in hand for start-up, including commissioning of the FPSO.

BD is expected to ramp up to its full sales gas rate of 100 MMcf/d and 6,000 b/d of liquids in the second half of 2017.

As for theMDA-MBH fields in the same region, platform construction is more than 40% complete, and a contract for the floating production unit is awaiting final government approval.

First gas is due in 2018-2019, with the shallow-water MDK field set to be tied in during the same period.
