US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count falls by one to 20

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes Weekly rig count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week, falling to 20, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of April 21, 2017. That number is down by five year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by six year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 10 week-over-week at 857, with oil rigs up by five to 688, gas rigs down by five to 167, and miscellaneous unchanged at two.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 426, with oil rigs up by 345, gas rigs up by 79, and miscellaneous rigs up by two.
