US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count falls by one to 21

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count fell to 21 over the past week according to the latest Baker Hughes weekly rig count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week, falling to 21, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of April 13, 2017. That number is down by six year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by seven year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by eight week-over-week at 847, with oil rigs up by 11 to 683, gas rigs down by three to 162, and miscellaneous unchanged at two.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 407, with oil rigs up by 332, gas rigs up by 73, and miscellaneous rigs up by two.
