US Gulf of Mexico drilling rig count holds steady at 22

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count remained unchanged over the past week, holding steady at 22.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count remained unchanged over the past week, holding steady at 22, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of April 7, 2017. That number is down by two year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by three year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 15 week-over-week at 839, with oil rigs up by 10 to 672, gas rigs up by five to 165, and miscellaneous unchanged at two.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 396, with oil rigs up by 318, gas rigs up by 76, and miscellaneous rigs up by two.
