TechnipFMC awarded further Upper Zakum work

TechnipFMC has been awarded by Zakum Development Co. an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a sulfate reduction plant on West Island, located offshore Abu Dhabi.

LONDON, PARIS, HOUSTON– TechnipFMC has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a sulfate reduction plant on West Island, located offshore Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates by Zakum Development Co. (ZADCO).

The project’s objective is the installation of a sulfate reduction plant module (SRP), along with new installations and tie-in to existing facilities in West Island. The module incorporates water treatment technologies with filtration and nano-filtration systems.

TechnipFMC says these systems are used for water injection into Upper Zakum western areas reservoir tight structure, which are said to require water with less sulfate content and particle size.

ZADCO operates the Upper Zakum field on behalf ofAbu Dhabi National Oil Co., ExxonMobil, and Japan Oil Development Co. Ltd.                                                                                                                          

Nello Uccelletti, president of TechnipFMC’s Onshore/Offshore business, said that the award was a strategic “early engagement achievement,” following the company's completion of the concept andfront-end engineering and design studies for the full Upper Zakum Full Development project, including the SRP.
