TechnipFMC wins subsea contract for Kaikias

Shell Offshore Inc. has contracted TechnipFMC for the delivery, integration, and installation of the subsea production system and subsea riser, jumper, and flowline equipment for the deepwater Kaikias project in the Gulf of Mexico.

LONDON, PARIS, and HOUSTON– Shell Offshore Inc. has contracted TechnipFMC for the delivery, integration, and installation of the subsea production system and subsea riser, jumper, and flowline equipment for the first phase of the deepwater Kaikias project in the Gulf of Mexico.

The contract includes the first application of TechnipFMC’s compact pipeline end manifold and horizontal connection system technologies with flexible jumpers in thedeepwater Gulf of Mexico.

Kaikias is located in the Mars-Ursa basin about 210 km (130 mi) offshore Louisiana and is estimated to contain more than 100 MMboe recoverable resources. The field will produce oil and gas through a subsea tieback to the nearby Shell-operated Ursa production hub. Phase one is expected to start production in 2019.

TechnipFMC collaborated with Shell during the front-end planning and design for the first phase of Kaikias.
