US Gulf of Mexico rig count jumps up to 20

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by two over the past week to reach 20, according to the latest Baker Hughes rig count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count increased by two over the past week to reach 20, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Mar. 10, 2017. That number is down by six year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by seven year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 12 week-over-week at 768, with oil rigs up by eight to 617, gas rigs up by five to 151, and miscellaneous rigs down by one (to zero).

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 288, with oil rigs up by 231, gas rigs up by 57, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged.
