US Gulf of Mexico rig count falls to 19

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week, falling to 19.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count decreased by one over the past week to reach 19, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Mar. 17, 2017. That number is down by seven year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count mirrored the US Gulf of Mexico rig count; but the overall total is down by eight year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 21 week-over-week at 789, with oil rigs up by 14 to 631, gas rigs up by six to 157, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is up by 313, with oil rigs up by 244, gas rigs up by 68, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
