Offshore staff
OSLO, Norway – Statoil, ExxonMobil, and Gassco will establish joint contingency planning for the Sleipner Utsira of the North Sea, west of Stavanger, following sanction by Petroleum Safety Authority Norway.
Area contingency planning involves cooperation on emergency preparedness between several offshore facilities and fields, the aim being to share maritime and airborne emergency response resources.
These may include one or more emergency response vessels and search and rescue helicopters.
Statoil says it has benefited from area contingency planning already in place at various locations offshore Norway.
Following the approval, rescue vessels for individual fields operated by the three companies can be removed.
