Wintershall to resume drilling at Brage offshore Norway

Wintershall Norge has contracted Odfjell Drilling to provide platform drilling services on the Brage platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

BERGEN, Norway– Wintershall Norge has contracted Odfjell Drilling to provide platform drilling services on the Brage platform in the Norwegian North Sea.

The contract is for four years, with options for extensions, and has an estimated value of $50-70 million subject to operational activity during the contract duration.

No new wells were drilled from the platform in 2016.

Odfjell’sDeepsea Stavanger is currently idle after completion a contract for JX Nippon in the UK sector in July. The rig is due to start a six-well development drilling program for Wintershall’s Maria project in the Norwegian Sea on April 1, 2017.

Estimated duration of the contract is 574 days.

As for the company’s other rigs,Deepsea Aberdeen is contracted until 2022 for BP west of Shetland; Deepsea Atlantic is contracted to Statoil until 2019 on the Johan Sverdrup field; and Deepsea Bergen is on contract to Statoil until mid-2017.
