OSLO, Norway – Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has initiated an investigation into last week’s fire in an engine room on the semisubmersible drilling rig Scarabeo 5.
The rig, operated by Saipem, has been working for Statoil at theNjord field in the Norwegian Sea.
A PSA team was due to travel to the rig last week. The investigation will seek to clarify the course of events and determine the direct and underlying causes for future experience.
