US Gulf of Mexico rig count increases to 22

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count has increased by one to 22 over the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count has increased by one to 22 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Oct. 7, 2016. That number is down by nine year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count stands at 23, a result of the increased rig count in the GoM and an additional rig offshore Alaska. The overall US offshore rig count is also down by nine year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by two week-over-week at 524, with oil rigs up by three to 428, gas rigs down by two 94, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 271 rigs, with oil rigs down by 177, gas rigs down by 95, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
