US Gulf of Mexico rig count increases to 21

The US Gulf of Mexico rig count has increased by one to 21 over the past week, according to the latest Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count.

HOUSTON – The US Gulf of Mexico rig count has increased by one to 21 over the past week, according to the Baker Hughes Weekly Rig Count of Sep. 30, 2016. That number is down by eight year-over-year.

The overall US offshore drilling rig count stands at 22, an increase of two over the past week. That increase included the additional rig in theGoM and an additional rig offshore Alaska. The overall US offshore rig count is down by eight year-over-year.

The overall US rig count, onshore and offshore, was up by 11 week-over-week at 522, with oil rigs up by seven to 425, gas rigs up by four to 96, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at one.

Compared to this time last year, the overall US rig count is down by 287 rigs, with oil rigs down by 189, gas rigs down by 99, and miscellaneous rigs up by one.
