LIMASSOL, CyprusStatoil says it will suspend its contract with the semisubmersible Songa Enabler when the rig completes its current well on the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea.

Songa Offshore says the earliest date for the suspension will be from the end of November, based on the current drilling schedule.

The rig should resume drilling early next April with a well on the Blåmann prospect.

Statoil is working to revise the existing drilling schedule with a view toward the earliest possible date for resumption of work.

The rig will go on a 75% suspension rate ($343,000/d). During this period, Songa Offshore plans to minimize the financial impact through reduced manning and reduced activity level.
