LIMASSOL, CyprusSonga Offshore says its rig operations offshore Norway are being impacted by the current industrial action by oil service workers belonging to the IE Industry og Energi union.

Although the contractor is not represented by the employer’s organization Norsk Olje and Gass, some of its rigs have been taken out of operations when Statoil’s operations have been affected by the strike.

The three semisubmersibles currently off-line and on Force Majeure rate are theSonga Endurance, Songa Equinox, and Songa Enabler

TheSonga Encourage is in operation but expected to be impacted by the conflict during the first half of October. Only the Songa Delta is not expected to be impacted by the conflict.

As a consequence, Songa Offshore is reducing offshore manning to the Safety Crew Level and 65 offshore employees have so far received notice of temporarily dismissal, with another 365 likely to be similarly affected.
