STAVANGER, Norway – Statoil has awarded Aker Solutions a NOK350-million ($42.5-million) contract to upgrade the Mongstad terminal on Norway’s west coast to receive oil from the Johan Sverdrup field from late 2019.
The scope includes engineering, procurement, and the construction of a pig receiver for the oil export pipeline fromJohan Sverdrup, and connecting the field’s oil pipeline to the existing storage caverns at the terminal.
Pipeline receiving facilities will be constructed in an available area at the Mongstad complex and will be tied in to all required utilities and control and safety systems.
Aker adds that the facilities will be connected to the six existing oil caverns through a new manifold system that will allow Johan Sverdrup’s crude to be distributed to any of the caverns on the site.
Aker Solutions’ office in Bergen will manage engineering, with the company’s yard in Egersund handling pre-fabrication of pipes and steel structures.

In Norway all of the big yards along the entire coast are now involved in developing one of the biggest industrial projects in Norway in recent years.”
